Downtown Homeless Encampment

Many communities in Montana and our nation have homeless encampments. Great Falls is not immune to this situation.

I wanted to learn more about this specific encampment, in real-life fashion. So, I slung my camp chair over my shoulder and walked to the site. My arrival was unannounced, and I was able to remain unidentified.

After a period, conversation ensued.

The topics were many, including football, current events and the more personal issues. Such as homelessness, alcohol, drugs, addiction and community services.

I was on-site for hours as an unknown person, and it was enlightening. It will help with my decision making as a city commissioner.

The Great Falls City Commission and our community partners took this homeless group seriously and came to a resolution of this encampment.
